The infamous barber of Seville has finally found himself a bride! There's just one little
problem. Seems the Count has his eyes on her as well. And so Figaro vows that if the
Count wants to "dance," it will be he -- Figaro -- who plays the tune.
And what a tune it is!
Mozart takes us on a whirlwind ride -- a madcap frenzy of disguises, mistaken identities
and general mayhem -- catapulting us to one of the most touching conclusions ever, a
joyous finale that celebrates our amazing capacity for tenderness, trust and forgiveness.
Sung in Italian with English translations projected above the stage.

When the American naval officer stepped onto that foreign land, he should have known.
And if he didn't, the simple sincerity of Cio-Cio-San's tender voice should have told him.
To be careful. That she would believe his every word. That she was delicate, like ... like
a butterfly.
But he didn't. And in that suddenly changed world plays out one of the most emotional
and unforgettable of all operas.
Puccini at his best! Music so powerful, so achingly beautiful, that it has never failed to
wring the tears and win the hearts of audiences throughout the world!
Sung in Italian with English translations projected above the stage.

Can you imagine? What it must have felt like? To believe - -to know! -- that it was the
earth that revolved around the sun and not the other way around! To stand against the
prevailing thought of the entire world!
We meet the famous astronomer on his deathbed, blind from looking sunward so often,
and are guided backwards through his life. Back as the Church strips him of his freedom,
back as he kneels to recant his work, back as he is declared a heretic.
All the way back to his childhood as he enjoys an opera written by his father about -- of
all things -- the magical story of planetary figures.
An intimate and touching telling of a great man and his tumultuous times, by one of the
greatest composers of our time.
Sung in English with projections above the stage.

In the Age of Enlightenment, people thought they lived in "the best of all possible
worlds" because of the power of human reason. Armed with that belief, our naive hero,
Candide, ventures out into the big wide world expecting to find truth, beauty and
wonder. He finds instead pestilence, plague and pox (to name but a few)!
Some 40 fast-paced scenes whisk our hero around the globe -- and us along with him
-- in a galloping, humorous and touching trip.
Where does he end up? Right back where he started ... but with a slightly changed view
of life. Yes, there's evil. Yes, there's good. And when it's all tallied up, it's not such a bad
life after all. (It helps, of course, that he gets the girl in the end!)
Sung in English with projections above the stage.
