LINDSAY OHSE

Tuesday, January 31, 7:00pm | Whitsell Auditorium, Portland Art Museum

Enjoy an unforgettable evening of Mozart, Poulenc and Rachmaninov when the spotlight shines on soprano LINDSAY OHSE in her first Portland Opera Studio Artists Recital.  These Studio Artists recitals are the perfect opportunity to get to know the voices of our talented young artists in an intimate setting where the audience experiences the close relationship between composer, singer and accompanist.  Portland Opera Associate Music Director ROBERT AINSLEY will accompany Ms. Ohse.

Described as “sparkling” by Opera News, Lindsay Ohse has already won the hearts of Portland audiences as Barabina in the Company’s recent The Marriage of Figaro and as featured artist in the first ever Big Night gala concert. This season she will sing the role of Maria Celeste in Portland Opera’s new production of Philip Glass’ Galileo Galilei, as well as Maria in Wichita Grand Opera’s La Fille du Regiment and Constance in Dialogues of the Carmelites with Des Moines Metro Opera.

(Portland, Ore) – Portland Opera is pleased to announce Puccini’s goldmine of unforgettable musical moments, Madame Butterfly,  opening February 3 at Keller Auditorium with additional performances on February 5m,9 and 11, 2012.  Tickets, beginning at $20 can be purchased at the Portland Opera box office and Ticketmaster outlets.

Madame Butterfly reflects the opening of Asia to the Western World,” says Portland Opera General Director Christopher Mattaliano, “and therefore fits perfectly with this season’s theme of When Our World Changes.  The opera resonates today,” he continues, “because it is a very human work of deeply felt characters.  Cio-Cio-San is one of the richest characters in all of opera, and Butterfly Puccini’s greatest work.”

This production will feature the PORTLAND OPERA STUDIO ARTISTS with all-new sets and costumes by Portland Opera.
