Partnership will also feature airing of commercial CD recordings of the upcoming 2009/10 season offerings
Oregon and Southwest Washington opera lovers and soon-to-be-opera lovers will reap the benefits of a continued partnership between Portland Opera and All Classical. Thanks to this partnership, the area will enjoy broadcasts of Portland Opera’s performances from its 2008/09 season—Life on the Edge—La Traviata, Fidelio, The Turn of the Screw, La Calisto and Rigoletto. Those broadcasts will be followed by broadcasts of commercial CD recordings of Portland Opera’s upcoming 2009/10 season—Love & Marriage—with Puccini’s La Bohème, Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Bernstein’s Trouble in Tahiti, Monteverdi’s Il ballo delle ingrate and Il combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda and Rossini’s The Barber of Seville. Also on the 2009/10 season is Philip Glass’ Orphée, however there is no commercial recording available.
This marks the fifth season that All Classical will air such recordings. Portland Opera General Director Christopher Mattaliano commented that “we are very pleased to continue our partnership with All Classical. Broadcasting last season’s performances will give thousands of patrons the particular pleasure of enjoying the season’s highlights once again. Broadcasting those performances and previewing the upcoming season go a great distance in helping make opera accessible to our entire community. Our huge thanks go to All Classical and its talented team who have become key players in the region’s cultural landscape.”
“We are honored at All Classical to be able to present Portland Opera’s successful season to our listeners,” said Jack Allen, President & CEO of All Classical FM Public Radio Foundation. “Our commitment to supporting our local art partners meshes well with our commitment to representing this area to the rest of the world.”
