Portland Opera, one of the Northwest’s premiere arts organizations and nation’s leading opera companies, seeks an enthusiastic, positive, experienced individual to join a dynamic development team. The Senior Giving Manager plays a key leadership role in Portland Opera’s development team and is responsible for growing the Camerata Circle membership of donors of $2,500 or more. This position is directly responsible for the identification, cultivation and solicitation of all individual donors and foundations of $2,500 to $10,000+.
The Senior Giving Manager leads Board members in their cultivation and solicitation efforts, oversees all cultivation and solicitation events and activities for the Opera’s major donors, leads the Opera’s annual fundraising gala, and provides support to the Portland Opera Guild’s annual fundraising event. The Senior Giving Manager reports to the Director of Communications & Development and directly supervises the work of the Individual Giving Manager, the Financial Administrative Assistant and any part-time or contracted grantwriting staff.
Ideal candidates are positive, creative, highly organized and outgoing with a strong collaborative, team-oriented attitude. Essential requirements include a record of proven success in direct cultivation and solicitation of individual and foundation gifts of $1,000 or more, and experience in organizing and conducting large special events. Experience with a fundraising database—particularly reporting and analysis—as well as intermediate-level skills in Microsoft Word and Excel are also required.
Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of general non-profit development experience, including work in individual giving, foundation grantwriting and special events management. Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication and organizational skills are required. A love of opera and/or the performing arts is a plus.

Portland Opera is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Technical Director. The Technical Director will report directly to the Director of Production and the Chief Operating Officer. Duties will include, but are not limited to:
Ideal candidates have 3 or more years of professional experience as a technical director or assistant (opera preferred but not required), ability to manage multiple projects, strong management and organizational skills, experience with IATSE union crews, proficiency in Vectorworks or AutoCAD, knowledge of theatrical techniques including theatrical lighting and rigging, ability to adhere to budget and rigorous time schedule, amenable to fluctuating work schedule including extensive overtime during production, ability to carry 50 pounds and climb/work from ladders.

Portland Opera has an immediate opening for a Patron Services Sales Agent (PSSA). The PSSA reports directly to the Sales Manager. This position is for the person who sees the Arts and Education as very important to the community. Our sales staff maintains a high profile in the marketplace and enjoys a well-earned reputation for its professionalism and courtesy. The sales office is highly productive and provides significant revenues in the form of ticket sales and contributions. Our office serves the broader community by providing services for other non-profit fine arts and educational organizations. We work in a comfortable and spacious office, and maintain a highly communicative and respectful professional work environment. This is a part-time, non-exempt, temporary position. Compensation based upon hourly wage plus commission.
